F.E.A.R. Combat & F.E.A.R. (Retail) UK/US Game Patches

Download F.E.A.R. Combat and Sierra/Monolith Official Patches for FEAR

Have you just downloaded and installed FEAR, only to get the message "F.E.A.R. is not currently installed. Update aborted."? Well, don't tear your hair out, your not going mad, you did just install it, only it was a different version from the one you are trying to patch! Knowing which version of FEAR to download and or update can be a bit confusing, as there are actually two quite different versions to patch, both are the same game in multi-player but the patches are unique to each version, they are NOT interchangeable.

There is the Retail Version, this is the one you would buy in a store or on-line and it's on a disc that comes in a box and this is just called "F.E.A.R." Which stands for First Encounter Assault Recon, NOT "F.E.A.R. Combat". Your version of this game could vary anywhere from V1.0 to V1.7, depending how long it had been on the shelf at the time you bought it, as far as I know the latest version 1.8 hasn't been released on disc.

"F.E.A.R. Combat" is the name of the free multi-player side of this game that they decided to give away! This is available to download from Sierra and other places (like here) and this would normally be Version 1.7, both types, Retail and Free come in different language versions.

Just to be clear, no matter which one you have installed, "F.E.A.R." or "F.E.A.R. Combat", you are able to play on the same game servers, most servers like ours are running V1.8 and there are still servers out there running V1.7

Game and Patch

As mentioned above, it's available in many languages, we will just deal with the English language versions here, of which there are two; a U.K. version and a U.S. If you haven't already downloaded the game, you can do so here: -

fearcombat_en_107.exe This is the U.S. FEAR Combat 1.7 Version. And here's the update patch for this version:-

fearcombat_update_en_107_108.exe This is the U.S. Version 1.7 to 1.8 Patch for the above.

Patch Only

These patches are for either the UK or US versions so first check which version you have. FEAR Combat refers to the Free Multi-player Download. FEAR Retail refers to the full version which includes the single player.
