In order to stay alive you need Iron tools and weapons which take a lot of resources
In my house I had to build a smelter to get iron into iron ingots the smitty to craft the tools and weapons.
Fireplace and cooking pot for food.
I have only got to LVL 38

Anyone from RAW that wants to play ARK please let me know. we have a small PVE server whitelisted that we would like to keep semiprivate to keep the a**holes out. I'm confident RAW is without a**holes

Ark on sale - anyone that wants to tribe together let me know. Lot to learn.
1st try, try to pick a server with a little bump in xp and taming time. The description will be like 5xXP/5xT
Servers that are pure vanilla are frustrating until you get some experience . A must have website is http://www.survive-ark.com/taming-calculator/ Also staying alive for the 1st couple  of days can be difficult. Hints: Like rust, make a pickaxe 1st then hatchet and spear n level up. Make multiple spears and and keep them in the quick access box because they will break without warning. Palm trees seem to drop as much wood and thatch as big trees. Wooden club is best for taming until you can get trank arrows.  Compy and Dilophosaur are your biggest threat until you level up.

Also in Options set Ground Clutter and Camera Shake all the way left. Ground Clutter makes it hard to see stuff on the ground and Camera Shake is just annoying when a big Dino is around.
