0.62 is now Stable.

DayZ just got its most meaningful update in months.

vernight, Bohemia Interactive pushed out the 0.62 update to its open-world survival zombie game. It reworks foliage and adds new ambient sounds, among other things. The idea is the the update helps make DayZ a more modern-looking and sounding game. Here's what's new:

  • New tree models
  • Denser forests
  • New clutter (grass, small plants)
  • New surface textures - plains and such
  • Improved wind behaviour
  • New shader for the wind, affecting trees and grass
  • Tweaked and changed lighting for the world
  • Small improvements to satellite textures
  • Rain affected by wind and refinement of its behaviour in general
  • Many reworked locations on Chernarus
  • Reworked ghillie (to be consistent with new tech)
  • Small bugfixes to some issues from 0.61
  • New ambient sounds

Worth highlighting are the new tree models. Players are reporting you can no longer hide inside pine trees, which prevents tree camping.

Players also report much denser forests and nicer ambient sounds, such as birds chirping. Players also seem impressed with the way wind now works in the game.

Worms Revolution

Epic Fail!

Just one of the many funny moments that we have on Fridays (as well as other impromptu evenings). We still play Worms every week regularly, unfortunately most fails don't get recorded like this one but they are still just as funny.

We are waiting on Shiv to put together some more videos of the games that he captured on video, so watch this space...

FEAR Combat

The One and Only

F.E.A.R. Combat

The game that started it all for us but you can read more on that on our about page. The online multi-player component to the award-winning shooter. A fast paced first-person shooter (free to play) which in it's heyday had thousands of us playing it.

Sadly in December 2012 the FEAR master server was shut down by GameSpy but thanks to a group of loyal FEAR players and supporters who launched their own master server, the game lives on. Visit fear-community.org for more information.

The game is not too difficult to pick up. Some games are rather ridiculous to play if you are new. While you likely will not be very good at first, you can learn rather quickly, since the game dynamics are not difficult to get used to.

For a full list of games that we play, albeit occasionally, visit our other games section

Insurgency Patch Changelist October 5, 2016

All New Ambush Scenarios

We are releasing a patch for Insurgency today that features all new Ambush scenarios, work in progress penetration-based armor, updated character models with equipment representation, competitive changes, and more.

We’ve changed the game rules as well as many layouts for Ambush, the goal being to revive the mode by making it more fun and competitive. The mode now always has a single extraction point, which changes each round. The added and updated scenarios have been added to the official tactical and competitive playlists. Please give us your feedback on the new layouts via our forums, and let us know what you think.

Please note that we are changing over from Mumble to Discord

After a week of extensive tests by several of our members, we have decided to migrate from Mumble to Discord, so from the 19th of this month it's goodbye to Mumble.

Why Discord? Lightweight, simple, and totally free; Discord has dethroned every other gaming voice chat service. You don’t need to host a server, download a program, or even sign up for an account; you just send a link out to the people you want to join, and they’re there.

To Join, just click the "Join Discord" link on our website's main menu.

In addition to the browser version of Discord you can also download the desktop and mobile versions, which we recommend as this gives you even more functionality and better performance.

Downloading the desktop Discord Client gives you access to several features not available through the browser version like push-to-talk and configuring your input and output devices. The desktop Discord client is available for OSX and Windows.

The mobile client allows you to install Discord on your iOS or Android device and stay connected with us even while you are AFK.

The Discord Client can be downloaded by clicking the following link:

From the 20th December 2016 our dedicated server will no longer be up!

Due to over 20% price increases from OVH, coupled with the fact that most of our game servers have had little or no use, we have decided to discontinue renting our dedicated server from tomorrow the 20th December it will cease to be in existence.

The only real impact this will have on us is that our Mumble voice server has now changed it's I.P. Full details of which, have been sent out to all members by e-mail and published on our website.

Hungry for a chicken dinner!

Around a dozen members are currently playing this. Battlegrounds is an action game in which up to one hundred players fight in a battle royale, a type of large-scale last man standing deathmatch where players fight to be the last alive. Players can choose to enter the match solo, or with a small team of up to four people. In either case, the last person or team left alive wins the match.

Each match starts with players parachuting from a plane onto a map area approximately 8 by 8 kilometres (5.0 mi × 5.0 mi) in size, The plane's flight-path across the map varies with each round, requiring players to quickly determine the best time to parachute out. Players start with no gear beyond customized clothing selections which do not affect gameplay. Once they land, players can search buildings and other sites to find weapons, vehicles, armor, clothing, and other equipment. These items are procedurally distributed throughout the map at the start of a match, with certain high-risk zones typically having better equipment. Killed players can be looted to acquire their gear as well. Players can opt to play either from the first-person or third-person perspective, each having their own advantages and disadvantages in combat and situational awareness; though server-specific settings can be used to force all players into one perspective to eliminate some advantages.

Every few minutes, the playable area of the map begins to shrink down towards a random location, with any player caught outside the safe area taking damage incrementally, and eventually being eliminated if the safe zone is not entered in time; in game, the players see the boundary as a shimmering blue wall that contracts over time. This results in a more confined map, in turn increasing the chances of encounters. During the course of the match, random regions of the map are highlighted in red and bombed, posing a threat to players that remain in that area. In both cases, players are warned a few minutes before these events, giving them time to relocate to safety. At random, a plane will fly over various parts of the playable map and drop a loot package, containing items which are typically unobtainable during normal gameplay. These packages emit highly visible red smoke, drawing interested players near it and creating further confrontations. On average, a full round takes no more than 30 minutes.

At the completion of each round, players gain in-game currency based on how long they survived, how many other players they had killed, and how much damage they dealt to other players. The currency is used to purchase crates which contain cosmetic items for character customization.

About Us +

A bit about our history

Based on an idea from late 2007, the RAW community began in January 2008 and was started by four of us, all from different countries, playing just one game: F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault Recon). We rented a very small 10-slot server with the idea of keeping it free from cheaters and hackers, which we did.

Far from being a community back then, it did set the international flavour for us and our numbers grew to a dozen members by the end of that year and we also moved on to two 16-slot game servers and TeamSpeak. We became very much a large part of the FEAR community by then, and like Marmite, we were either loved or hated!

Over the course of the next few years we grew in numbers to about forty members, reaching a peak of around sixty by 2013, from over 25 different countries. This was in part due to us getting a dedicated games server and introducing additional games such as Unreal Tournament 3 and COD 4. The demise in popularity of those games also saw a slow reduction in membership, bringing us down to our present level to around thirty, twelve of which are staff members who pay the running costs of the community.

These days we can be found playing a number of different games, our most popular being DayZ, Rust, & Ark amongst others. With the release of dedicated server files and modding support for DayZ (still in Alpha) promised by Bohemia Interactive we hope to become more active in that game in the future.
